Civil Discourse and Difficult Decisions Slideshow - 2017/2018 School Year

  • Students from Palm Beach Lakes High School, practice civil discourse and decision-making skills in a realistic courtroom simulation presided over by a judge and coached by volunteer Federal Bar Association attorneys. As the next generation of jurors, the students use these skills in jury deliberations to decide a teen-relevant social media case.

  • Teen Discourse and Decisions, the federal courts' civics education program known as TD-Squared, involves all of the learning styles of these students from Ft. Pierce Central High School and Westwood High School. They spent a morning in the courtroom of U.S. District Court Judge Robin L. Rosenberg (front row, right) or U.S. Magistrate Judge Shaniek Mills Maynard (front row, left). Student jurors deliberated after listening to student attorneys argue the issues in a teen Facebook case. The students learned and practiced civil discourse and decision-making skills throughout the courtroom event. Members of the Federal Bar Association coached the students.
