Lewis v. BSO et al (24-CV-61568-AHS) Posted 11/05/2024

The Plaintiff, Jonathan K. Lewis, is suing Defendant, Deputy Richard Desir of the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, for allegedly violating his First and Fourth Amendment rights under the United States Constitution based upon Plaintiff’s claim that Defendant physically assaulted him while he was a pretrial detainee in the Broward County Jail System in retaliation for previous lawsuits and grievances he filed, denied Plaintiff adequate medical care after the assault, and wrote Plaintiff up for a false disciplinary report, which resulted in Plaintiff being held in administrative segregation. Plaintiff is seeking compensatory, punitive, and nominal damages. This case is in its early stages, with Defendant having been served in recent days.
