In this section 1983 case, Plaintiff Jimmie Evans alleges that in 2018, while he was a pretrial detainee at Turner Gilford Knight, two officers with the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department beat him in a holding cell, unprompted, following a verbal altercation. Plaintiff alleges that the beating caused him to defecate on himself and left him with swelling in the face. Defendants deny that the beating took place. The Court denied qualified immunity on summary judgment. Trial is set for December 16, 2024.
