This is an internet defamation case. The Defendants include a Russian journalist who operates a website that helps Russian-speaking refugees seek asylum in the United States. The Plaintiff brought a multi-count complaint against the Defendants, alleging publication of defamation on the website. The Defendants, who speak fluent English, seek volunteer counsel. The Plaintiff sought preliminary injunctive relief against the Defendants on April 19, 2023, but the Magistrate Judge issued a Report & Recommendation denying relief.
