The Plaintiff, currently a state prisoner, brought suit under 42 U.S.C. § 1983, alleging that Defendant, a Miami-Dade Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation officer, used excessive force by attacking him without provocation, pepper spraying him, and beating him, while he was a pretrial detainee at the Turner Gilford Knight Detention Center. This case is currently set for trial on November 17, 2025.
