Pursuant to Administrative Order 2012-4, all existing members of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida’s Bar are required to pay to the District Clerk a renewal fee of $25 on or before March 15, 2012, and every other year thereafter. There is only one Southern District bar and one renewal fee, which is paid to the District Court.
Practitioners who currently have a CM/ECF log in account with the District Court should use that account to pay the renewal fee. If you do not have a CM/ECF login account with the District Court, you can now log in to the District Court CM/ECF system with your Bankruptcy Court log in to pay your renewal fee. You will not be able to file documents or take any other action in the District Court system. [This option is only available to Bankruptcy Practitioners who do not already have a log in account with the District Court.]
The renewal fee must be paid on-line through the District Court CM/ECF system. The renewal fee cannot be paid through the Bankruptcy Court CM/ECF system.
Any attorney who fails to pay the renewal fee in a timely manner, after a thirty (30) day grace period, shall no longer be in good standing with this Court and as a result cannot practice before the court. See S.D. Fla. Att’y Admis. & Prac. R. 3. Those attorneys will no longer be able to file documents through the CM/ECF system (although they will continue to receive Notices of Electronic Filing (NEFs) on active cases) until such time as they comply with this renewal requirement by paying the renewal fee. Delinquent payment of the renewal fee after the thirty (30) day grace period will be assessed a one-time $50.00 late fee in addition to the renewal fee. Only after payment of the renewal fee and late fee will an attorney’s good standing be reinstated. Failure to pay the delinquent fee before the next cycle will require that attorney to reapply for admission pursuant to Rule 2 of the Special Rules Governing the Admission and Practice of Attorneys, retake the Southern District’s attorney admissions exam, and to pay any initial admissions fee.
