Impact of Federal Government Shut Down

Impact of Federal Government Shut Down on the District Court of the Southern District of Florida (Posted 04/08/2011)

Please see the attached link to the national news release from the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts website. For approximately the first two weeks of a general government shut down, we do not anticipate any significant impact on court services in the Southern District due to the judiciary’s ability to temporarily fund operations from fee accounts and no year funds. As the press release notes, however, services will be severely impacted if the shut down continues beyond that point. We are making contingency plans, and the public should monitor this website where information will be posted if the shut down persists and conditions change. To reiterate, even if the general government shut down starts after April 8th, there will be no change in Court hours or services unless notice is posted otherwise.
