Frederick v. Silva et al (18-CV-80483-DMM) - Posted 01/28/2019

The Plaintiff, James Terrell Frederick, is in need of a lawyer to represent him during the course of his civil rights litigation. While incarcerated, Mr. Frederick has filed a claim under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 against several correctional officers, who he claims used excessive force against him. Mr. Frederick alleges that he had an altercation with several correctional officers, during which they beat him, attempted to break his arm, discharged a Taser on him several times, and sprayed him with pepper spray. Mr. Frederick further alleges that the correctional officers sexually assaulted him in the course of beating him. Plaintiff seeks compensatory and punitive damages against the defendants.

Mr. Frederick's case is still in the early stages of litigation. The Court has granted Mr. Frederick's Motion to proceed In Forma Pauperis and has screened his Complaint pursuant to such Motion. The Court found that Plaintiff's Complaint should proceed against most of the identified defendants. There are motions to dismiss currently pending.
