For all payments, please write the case number and print the defendant’s name on the check.

If you receive a 1099 form from us, it is because any money you received has earned interest. You can get a copy of the W-8 or W-9 form from the IRS.gov site (http://www.irs.gov/).

Payment Information: We accept payments for: Special Assessments, Fines, Restitution, Appearance Bonds, Cost Bonds and we only handle Cash Bonds. All payments except restitution and registry: We accept cash, personal checks, money orders, cashier’s checks, and credit cards. Checks should be made payable to: U.S. Courts and may be brought or mailed to U.S. District Court, 400 North Miami Avenue, Room 8N09, Miami, FL 33128.

Notice to Customers Presenting Checks: When you provide a check as payment, you authorize us either to use information from your check to make a one-time electronic fund transfer from your account or to process the payment as a check transaction. For inquiries, please call 305-523-5050.

Privacy Act – A Privacy Act Statement required by 5 U.S.C. § 552a(e)(3) stating our authority for soliciting and collecting the information from your check, and explaining the purposes and routine uses which will be made of your check information, is available from our internet site at (http://www.fms.treas.gov/otcnet/index.html), or call toll free at (1-866-945-7920) to obtain a copy by mail. Furnishing the check information is voluntary, but a decision not to do so may require you to make payment by some other method.

Restitution and Registry Payments: We only accept cash, cashier’s checks, money orders and attorney law firm checks. Checks should be made payable to: U.S. Courts and may be brought or mailed to U.S. District Court, 400 North Miami Avenue, Room 8N09, Miami, FL 33128.

Return of Cash Bond: Once the defendant has been sentenced and surrenders, if applicable, or is acquitted, the attorney or depositor needs to motion the Court for the return of the funds deposited. Funds deposited in the Court Registry cannot be disbursed without a Court Order.

Post Judgment Instructions: INTEREST RATE ON POST JUDGMENTS in the Federal Court 28 U.S.C. 1961, 18 U.S.C. 3612, and 40 U.S.C. 258 (e) (1)

Each Monday we are provided the new post judgment interest rate. This rate is applicable from: The Monday (or Tuesday, if Monday is a holiday) after the “Week Ending” date through the following Sunday. This rate can be referenced via the internet at: https://www.federalreserve.gov/datadownload/Choose.aspx?rel=H.15.
