Keels v. Zambrana et al (15-CV-80546-DMM)

Alton Lamont Keels, Plaintiff pro se, brings this excessive force action under 42 U.S.C. § 1983. Keels alleges that he suffered extensive injuries at the hands a correctional officer while incarcerated at the South Bay Correctional Facility. Specifically, Plaintiff alleges that a correctional officer sprayed him in the face with a chemical agent and punched him using a pair of handcuffs, as a result of which several bones around Plaintiff's eye were broken. Several of Plaintiff's claims in this case have already been adjudicated, but Plaintiff's remaining excessive force claim, which has survived Defendant's Motion for Summary Judgment, is tentatively scheduled for a jury trial. The Court is permitted to award attorneys' fees to prevailing plaintiffs in § 1983 actions.  If interested in representing the individual Plaintiff in this matter, please email FLSD_ProBono@flsd.uscourts.gov
